+ Tips For Taking The Best Webcam Photo.

When taking your webcam photo, whether or not you have a high quality and expensive webcam you can still follow some basic steps to get the best photo possible out of your web-camera.

One of the main important things to focus on when taking a photo is the lighting. Be sure that the light source is not behind the subject (you), as it will likely flood the webcam lens with light and cast the subject as a black/dark shadow.

To prevent this you simple need the source light to shine on the subject and to be behind the web-camera (see sample image below).

+ Filters & Effects Descriptions.

The following is a list and a small description of the webcam effects that can be applied with this photo booth application.

  • None - No filters will be applied.
  • Mirror Left - This effect will take the left half of the webcam photo booth display and mirror/reflect it on the right side.
  • Mirror Right - This effect will take the right half of the webcam photo booth display and mirror/reflect it on the left side.
  • Mirror Top - This effect will take the top half of the webcam photo booth display and mirror/reflect it on the bottom half.
  • Mirror Bottom - This effect will take the bottom half of the webcam image and mirror/reflect it on the top half.
  • Inverse - This effect will split the photo booth display at the horizontal centre and reverse/invert each half to their opposite points.
  • Mirror Quad - This effect will reflect four instances of the photo booth display with the reflection from the center point, through the horizontal and vertical axis.
  • Mirror - This effect will mirror the opposite of "none".
  • Upside Down - This effect will display the webcam photo upside down.
  • Divide - This effect will split the web-cam photo at the horizontal centre and delay the timing of the display time of each half with respects to each other.
  • FilmStrip - This effect will show a filmstrip reel of small web-cam instances each with a slight delay in gradient giving the image capturing movie reel effect.
  • Fragment - This effect will fragment your webcam by superimposing and enlarging selected pixels over the webcam instance.
  • Ghost - This effect will capture and overlay a delayed instance over the original real-time webcam photo, giving the delayed instance an alpha filter to create the ghost effect.
  • Bulge - This effect among other things, will make your nose huge! :(.
  • FishBowl - This effect curves the photo booth display.
  • Dent - This effect gives the impression of a dent to the centre of the webcam capture.
  • Squeeze - This effect squeezes your webcam image image to a central point.
  • Water - This effect allows you to take dip without getting wet, the classic water effect.
  • Fire - This effect will produce flames around any objects within the photo booth display, including you!. If the object is moving the flames intensify.
  • Plasma - This filter displays balls of motion detecting plasma onto the webcam picture (move around and watch them track you!).
  • Snow - This effect as the name suggests will cause it to snow wherever you are whatever the weather.
  • Steam - This filter gives the impression of steam on the webcam photo lens, movement will momentarily remove the steam.
  • Swarm - This effect adds a swarm of motion detecting 'flies' to the webcam instance.
  • Pixelate - This effect will reduce the pixel rate of your webcam instance.
  • RGB - This filter returns an interlace of Reds Greens and Blues (RGB).
  • HalfTone - This effect resolves your webcam instance data into black dots with a white background.
  • MonoChrome - This photo filter will add a grayscale or black-and-white shades to your webcam instance.
  • Sepia - This filter will give your webcam instance a warmer tone and to enhance its archival qualities and return an old style image.
  • Hulk - This effect adds and subtracts an offset on the colour green within a loop.
  • Rainbow - This effect adds and subtracts an offset on the colours red, blue and green within a loop outputting the result to the webcam picture.
  • Seething Red - This effect adds and subtracts an offset on the colour red within a loop returning the filtered image of the webcam.
  • Rush Of Blue - This effect adds and subtracts an offset on the colour blue within a loop removing the reds and greens from the webcam photo.
  • Ascii - This effect will turn your webcam photo booth display into green text (similar to Matrix).
  • X-ray - This effect will create and apply an x-ray style effect onto the photo booth display.
  • Warhol - This effect is known as the Andy Warhol Photo Effect.
  • Glow - This photo filter inverts the glow effect onto the photo booth display.
  • Split Screen - This effect scrolls two instances of your webcam photo through a central horizontal split.
  • Rainbow Vertical - This filter will slice up the photo booth display into vertical pieces and color them in a rainbow sequence.
  • Rainbow Horizontal - This filter will slice up the photo booth display into horizontal pieces and color them in a rainbow sequence.

+ General Application Functionality.

This is a general description of all of the HTMLSnap applications and their functions, so keep in mind that some parts of this description may only apply to specific applications.

[Capture]
Clicking the 'Capture' button will freeze a single frame from your webcam and open up new options for printing or saving the webcam frame as a JPEG file (or a GIF file and multiple frames within the Ani-Me application).
[Delete]
Clicking the 'Delete' button will remove the webcam frame you previously captured and give you the ability to capture another new frame.
[Snap It]
Clicking the 'Snap' button will upload and save your cuptured webcam frame to the HTMLSnap server(s) for free hosting. Depending on whether you're logged in when snapping the photo, your snapshot may expire and auto delete after 2 months.
[Snag It]
Clicking the 'Snag' button will save your captured webcam frame as a JPEG file (or GIF within Ani-Me) locally to your computer to any folder/local location that you decide to choose.
[Print]
Clicking the 'Print' button will send the captured webcam frame to your selected printer handler for printing (or PDF file creation).
[Previous]
Clicking the 'Previous' button (where applies) will set the previous filter, effect or image within the webcam effects application you're currently using.
[Next]
Clicking the 'Next' button (where applies) will set the next filter, effect or image within the webcam effects application you're currently using.
[Time Delay]
Setting a 'Time Delay' from the drop-down list will enable you to delay the frame capture of your photo by X number of seconds, giving you time to set a pose. Where 'X' is a minimum of 3 seconds and a maximum of 60 seconds.
[Reset]
Clicking the 'Reset' button (where applies) will reset the webcam instance to its normal state.
[Load Image]
Clicking the 'Load Image' button (where applies) will allow you to add a local image from your computer to the webcam application for unique personalised effects.
[Post To Tumblr]
Clicking the 'Post To Tumblr' button will open a new popup window that will allow you to send your snapshot photo to the HTMLSnap.Com Tumblr account. There will also be an option for you to add your own Tumblr account name. This will give visitors the chance to click straight through to your Tumblr and who knows, maybe increase your follows.
[Vertical Flip]
Clicking the 'Vertical Flip' button under the application (where applies) will flip your webcam instance upside down.
[Horizontal Flip]
Clicking the 'Horizontal Flip' button under the application (where applies) will mirror your webcam instance.
[Remove Logo]
Clicking the 'Remove Logo' button will remove the HTMLSnap.com logo from your snapshot(s), however this option is for logged in members only.

(Members Only) When setting your galleries to public all of the snapshots you put in to that public gallery will be assigned with a "Public Domain" Creative Commons licence (view site Terms).

Alternatively all snapshots are otherwise considered private and full responsibility belongs solely with the uploader and are attached with a private licence.

Snapshots containing race hate, spam, harassment, gore or anything considered to be any of those things by site moderator(s) reviewing the reported snapshot(s) are completely forbidden from this site.
